Pounds/Sizes lost: I originally lost 40 lbs, since then I have gained 3-5 lbs of muscles. I started at a size 12 and ended wearing a size 2 and still do (YAH!).
What motivated her to change: My bosses, Patricia and Peter (co-owners of Blue Mountain Organics) encouraged me to "get fit," but after the first day in the gym I was hooked. It then became a personal challenge to see what I could accomplish. That personal challenge was truly my motivation, and realizing I had the ability and control to reach my goals was a great feeling.
How she exercised: I began working out 5 days a week alternating weightlifting and cardio. I still workout but now 3 - 4 days a week, still alternating the weights and cardio. After 3 months of going to the gym I purchased a treadmill and some dumbbells so that I could workout at home. This turned out not only to be a convenience for myself, but also motivated my husband and son to workout. My favorite workout is working the lower body with the dumbbells; my legs are much more muscular than ever.
What she ate: I originally thought my change of diet was going to be a struggle, but that was not the case at all. It has been over a year since I have been eating healthier and I find it easy to continue with same guidelines I started with. My diet consists of several small meals throughout the day that are lots of protein, fresh fruit, and vegetables. The best treat I allow myself are the trail mixes made by Blue Mountain Organics, they are truly the best tasting trail mixes I have ever eaten.
The biggest difference (aside from the number on the scale): I feel so much better, physically and mentally. This adventure not only built muscle strength, but also built positive self esteem.
I have had strangers come up to me and ask me what I do to be thin yet look so healthy. And I have friends who hadn't seen me in a while not recognize me. It has been fun and exciting to share what I have done with other people and try to encourage them to do the same. If I can do it, anybody can.
